Riley & Rex - 16 Ft Retractable Dog Leash

TL;DR: The Riley & Rex 16 Ft Retractable Dog Leash gives your dog extended room to explore while you keep control in hand. It's a practical everyday lead for walks, park visits, and recall practice where a standard 4 or 6 ft leash feels too short.

A retractable leash extends and locks at the length you choose, so your dog can sniff ahead or circle back without tangling. At 16 feet, this Riley & Rex leash sits at the longer end of the range — useful for open sidewalks, trails, and low-traffic recall work.

As a dog accessories shop based in North York, we stock leashes and leads that suit both city walks and weekend outings. This model is a straightforward choice if you've been looking for more slack than a standard fixed lead provides.

Specifications

Who is it for?

This leash suits dog owners who want their pet to have more freedom of movement without going fully off-leash. It works well for recall training, beach or trail walks, and dogs that like to wander a few paces ahead.

For strong pullers or reactive dogs in busy urban settings, a shorter fixed leash often gives better moment-to-moment control. Match the tool to the environment.

Feeding & use

Hold the housing firmly and use the brake button to lock the length before your dog reaches the end of the line. In crowded areas, retract to a short length so your dog stays close; extend it only when the path ahead is clear.

Avoid grabbing the cord with bare hands while it's under tension, and check the clip and housing regularly for wear.

What other leashes for dogs pair well with this one?

If you prefer a fixed-length option for closer control, consider the Riley & Rex - 6 Ft Solid Nylon Dog Leash or the shorter Riley & Rex - 4 Ft Solid Nylon Dog Leash. For low-light walks, the Riley & Rex - Reflective Braided Dog Leash adds visibility after dusk.

Keeping a retractable and a fixed lead on hand lets you adjust your dog accessories to the situation — long line for open trails, short line for crowded streets.
