Golden Globe winner Lena Dunham is best known for writing, directing, producing and acting in Girls, the original series she created for HBO. This particular sneaker collaboration was inspired by a workshop my sister Grace and I did at Young Women Empowered, an arts organization in Seattle encouraging young women to express themselves through writing and art. The girls are a beautiful, brave and diverse gang of poets and thinkers- who also happened to have adorable personal style. Grace and I wanted to find a creative way to send funds in their direction, and also design a product they'd actually be excited to sport- something by women, for women, with whimsy and humor. That's why I enlisted my old friend Joana Avillez to draw a range of fantastical women. - LENA A portion of the proceeds will be go to the Y-WE A high top rendition of a team favorite. The Fura High features a notched collar construction that allows for more movement of the ankle than traditional high-tops. The large ollie panel and a one piece toe dressed in suede provide excellent performance and durability.
