This version takes the SOPHIA idea, ribbed glass paired with a glass sphere, and gives it a bell-shaped shade. The ribs run the full height of the bell and catch the light along their length, so it feels more like a decorative object than a standard pendant.

When lit, the ribbed glass softens the light and creates gentle reflections across nearby surfaces. The cognac tint warms everything it touches, so the glow feels inviting and slightly nostalgic without feeling old-fashioned.

How is it different from the SOPHIA Green & Cognac mini?

Same ribbed glass, same glass sphere accent, same 59 inch maximum drop. The difference is the shade: this one is a bell shape, 5.12 inches across, and comes in Cognac only. If you want Green, or want to mix both colours over an island, go for the original SOPHIA mini.

How many should I hang over a kitchen island?

Two for islands up to about 6 feet, three for 7 to 9 feet. Space them 24 to 30 inches apart and keep the outer pendants at least 6 inches in from the ends so the grouping stays centred. Over a bar or a narrow peninsula, two is usually right. On its own it suits a bedside, a reading chair or a small counter.

What are the exact dimensions?

The shade is 5.12 inches (13 cm) across. Maximum drop is 59.06 inches (150 cm) including the cord, and it's adjustable, so you shorten it during install. It's a mini pendant, small enough to group without crowding a counter.

How high should I hang it above a counter or table?

Over a kitchen island or counter, 30 to 36 inches from the surface to the bottom of the shade. Over a dining table, 28 to 34 inches from the tabletop. Lower feels more intimate, higher spreads the light more broadly. The cord adjusts so you set the exact drop during install.

What kind of light does it give?

Soft and warm rather than bright and task-focused. The ribbing breaks the light up so it throws gentle patterns onto the counter and the wall behind, which is most of the reason to buy this fixture. Go 2700K for the warmest version of that effect. It is decorative light, so if you are lighting a work surface plan on other light in the room as well.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, with an external dimmer switch or a dimmable smart bulb. There is no integrated dimmer in the fixture, so you can use whatever system you already have. If you are on a wall dimmer, make sure it is rated for LED loads.

If I hang two or three, does each need its own ceiling box?

Yes. This is a single pendant on its own canopy, so three over an island means three ceiling boxes. If you only have one box and don't want new wiring runs, look at one of our multi-light pendants where several shades drop from a single mount.

Is it approved for Canadian electrical code?

Do I need an electrician?

It's a hardwired fixture that requires installation. If you're replacing an existing ceiling light on the same box, many people handle it themselves. If you're adding boxes for a multi-pendant run, use a licensed electrician.

How do I clean the glass?

Turn it off and let the bulb cool first. A dry microfibre cloth handles dust. For marks, a barely damp cloth and a dry buff. Don't spray cleaner directly at the fixture, spray the cloth. The ribbing catches dust, so a soft brush is useful.

Can it go in a bathroom or on a covered porch?

No, it's rated for dry locations only. Keep it out of bathrooms with a shower or tub, and out of anywhere exposed to damp, including covered outdoor areas.
