Royal Canin - Size Health Nutrition Large Breed Adult 5+ Years Dry Dog Food

TL;DR: Royal Canin Size Health Nutrition Large Breed Adult 5+ Years is a dry dog food for mature large-breed dogs (roughly 56–100 lb) aged five years and older. Chicken is the primary protein, and the size-appropriate kibble is formulated with nutrients that support aging joints, digestion, and everyday vitality.

This royal canin large breed dog food is built around the needs of older big dogs, combining joint support and digestive care in a single daily diet. Highly digestible proteins are paired with fibres and prebiotics to help support gut health through the mature life stage.

The crunchy kibble is shaped and textured for larger jaws, which makes it practical for everyday feeding. It is a chicken-inclusive recipe, so it is not a chicken-free option.

Specifications

Who is it for?

This diet is made for mature large-breed dogs aged 5 years and older, typically weighing between 56 and 100 lb. It suits owners who want to support aging joints, steady digestion, and overall vitality as their dog moves into its senior years.

Because many large breeds mature earlier than smaller ones, a 5+ formula can be a sensible fit even for dogs that are still active and energetic. Owners feeding a mixed-size household often keep this bag alongside a smaller-kibble option.

Is this a chicken-based recipe?

Yes. Chicken is the primary protein in this royal canin large breed dog food, so it is not suitable for dogs fed a chicken-free diet.

Feeding & use

Feed daily as a complete diet, adjusting portions to your dog's weight, activity level, and body condition. Follow the feeding guide printed on the bag and transition gradually from the previous food over 7–10 days.

Always provide fresh water, and speak with your veterinarian about your dog's individual needs. With a 100 lb bag, many owners decant into an airtight dog dry food container or keep the bag sealed in a cool, dry place to preserve kibble texture and freshness.
