Purina - Pro Plan Small Breed Adult Shredded Blend Chicken & Rice Dry Dog Food

TL;DR: Purina Pro Plan Small Breed Adult Shredded Blend is a chicken and rice dry dog food made for adult small-breed dogs, with real chicken as the first ingredient and a kibble-plus-shreds texture for easier chewing. It's a practical everyday choice for small dogs across the GTA, available in 6 lb and 18 lb bags.

Small dogs burn energy quickly and have smaller jaws, so their kibble needs to match. This formula combines crunchy kibble with tender shredded pieces to make mealtime more palatable while delivering balanced adult nutrition.

What makes this formula a good fit for small breeds?

Real chicken leads the ingredient list, providing animal protein for muscle maintenance. Rice and other digestible carbohydrates round out the recipe for steady energy, and the kibble is sized down for smaller mouths.

Key features

• Real chicken as the first ingredient for muscle support
• Kibble-and-shreds texture for easier chewing and improved palatability
• Rice and digestible carbohydrates for steady energy

Specifications

Available in two bag sizes: choose 6 lb for a trial or smaller household, or 18 lb for better value on a regular feeding routine. If you prefer to buy chicken in bulk for a multi-dog home, the larger bag is the practical option.

Who is it for?

This dog food is designed for adult small-breed dogs — think Yorkies, Shih Tzus, Pomeranians, Mini Poodles, and similar — who have higher metabolic needs and smaller mouths than medium or large breeds.

Feeding & use

Follow the feeding guide on the bag, adjusting portions based on your dog's weight, age, and activity level. Transition gradually over 7–10 days by mixing increasing amounts of the new food with your dog's current food.

Keep fresh water available at all times, and store the bag sealed in a cool, dry place to preserve freshness. For small-dog owners comparing everyday dog food options, this Purina shredded blend is a steady, reliable pick. (If you also keep chickens or other animals, remember our store stocks supplies for many pets — though for garden fencing like chicken wire you'll want a hardware retailer, so buy chicken wire elsewhere.)

Available for same-day pickup at our North York, Toronto storefront, or ships Canada-wide.
