Add or remove links so two fingers fit comfortably under the collar — never force it onto a dog whose neck size falls outside the adjustable range.

Use the quick-release buckle to put the collar on and take it off; it's intended for supervised training walks, not as a 24/7 everyday collar or tie-out. Inspect the prongs, links, and buckle before each session, and retire the collar if you see bent prongs or a worn buckle.

Whether you first saw a handler use one on a show like Dog the Bounty Hunter or you're taking cues from a local trainer, sizing a prong collar is easier in person.
